The Claremont Tigers have once again proven their dominance as they secure a spot in the Grand Final with a hard-fought victory against South Fremantle at Revo Fitness Stadium.

The Tigers have been on an impressive winning streak since last year's semi-finals, remaining undefeated to date, with only a draw as the single blemish. South Fremantle, on the other hand, have never managed to defeat Claremont in their history as a WAFLW franchise, but they were determined to overcome this hurdle.

South Fremantle put up a tough fight, showcasing their strong tackling game and solid defensive setup, which made it challenging for Claremont throughout the match.

The Tigers and the Bulldogs battled fiercely in each quarter, with the pressure steadily mounting. However, in the final quarter, Claremont managed to build a significant lead that proved insurmountable for the Bulldogs given the intense nature of the game.

This victory was a testament to the collective efforts of the entire team. While some leaders stepped up to set the tone and lead the way, it was the cohesive playing squad that brought the required heat and intensity. Numerous players fulfilled crucial roles and executed specific plays to contribute to the team's success.

Claremont won with goals from Jayme Harken, Tess Blackburn, Kobi Nichols, and Sarah Viney, advancing them to the Grand Final and making them heavy favourites to win it all.

The final score of the second semi-final was 4.5 (29) to 2.1 (13) in favour of Claremont.

Claire Ortlepp emerged as the standout player in today's match, showcasing her exceptional control over the defensive line.

Throughout the game, Ortlepp consistently displayed her high football IQ, skilfully manoeuvring under pressure as the last line of defence. She exhibited remarkable decision-making, often outsmarting her opponents by skilfully navigating through them and finding herself in open space on the right side of the ground.

Ortlepp's precise kicks to the advantage of Claremont's half-back line further solidified her crucial role in the team's victory.

While her individual statistics may not have been the most impressive, she has achieved this season, her 15 disposals, 4 marks, and 4 tackles held significant resonance in today's game. It was evident that Ortlepp's impact went beyond mere numbers, as her contributions on the field played a pivotal role in Claremont's success.

Once again, Matilda Sergeant and Jayme Harken showcased their instrumental roles in the Tigers' success this season by exerting their influence over the game and shaping its flow.

Sergeant, known for her tenacity and ability to win crucial contests, dominated with her relentless one-percent efforts and gritty tackles. On the other hand, Harken displayed finesse and skill, often orchestrating plays inside the 50-meter area and even scoring a goal herself.

Sergeant and Harken were both pivotal with 22 possessions each. Sergeant's impressive performance included 6 tackles, 4 marks, and 3 inside 50 entries. Meanwhile, Harken contributed with 5 tackles, 6 inside-50’s and a goal.

The two co-captains of Claremont deserve special recognition for their intense efforts during and after the first quarter, where they truly led by example with their relentless running and unwavering persistence.

Rachel Ortlepp, starting from half-forward, posed a constant threat to the opposition's defence, displaying signs of a potentially significant impact in front of the goals.

Andie Payne, on the other hand, spearheaded the defensive efforts from half-back, often disrupting the opposition's play by inserting herself into contested packs and tilting the numbers in Claremont's favour.

Ortlepp made her presence felt with 12 disposals, 4 marks, and 3 tackles. Her performance was highlighted by her dangerous forward movements and ability to create scoring opportunities for the team.

Payne, with 14 possessions, 4 tackles, and 2 inside 50 entries, showcased her determination to make a difference. Her involvement in contested situations and defensive mind were crucial in turning the tide in Claremont's favour.

Claremont eagerly awaits their next matchup in the final game of the season, as the Preliminary Final sets the stage for a thrilling derby between South Fremantle and East Fremantle.

Both teams, South Fremantle and East Fremantle, would make formidable opponents in this year's Grand Final. The highly anticipated clash is scheduled to take place on July 15 at Lathlain Mineral Resources Park, serving as neutral ground for both teams.
